Until she was retired from the fleet in 1980, the 53 Hatteras Convertible was the industry standard for over-50-foot sportfishing yachts of her era. Her long foredeck and sweeping sheer
combined to present the appearance of a thoroughbred aggressive sportfisherman, and her low-freeboard cockpit has never been surpassed for sheer fishability Indeed, this boat is so well proportioned that she must be seen up close to fully appreciate her size.
